For unknown reasons, many guys associate holidays with trip abroad. When they plan holidays, they often don’t even consider extraordinary cities in their own country. Rather than this, they choose trips to places abroad, without even considering selecting a place in their own country. In a consequence, many people don’t know their own country. They have many memories and experiences from abroad, but when somebody asks something about their own country, it turns out that they don’t know practically anything about attractive places there.

In consequence, this brief text, would try to inspire you to spend your holiday in a little different way this year. What if, instead of leaving to a foreign country again, you would decide to discover amazing places based in your own country? Let’s imagine, that you come from the south of Poland. There is a huge chance, that you believe that you already know much about your country and you contemplate other regions of it to be very similar to your town. However, that may be your mistake (find out new information). What is the reason? An answer is pretty simple. Because if you are from the South of Poland, it may be much closer to, e.g., Slovakia, that to Gdansk. Due to that, even though the language is different, there is a big probability that the culture or food you are familiar with, are more similar to these of neighboring country, than to different side of Poland.

In consequence, why don’t you book flights to Gdansk this summer. This part of your country has a lot to offer. E.g., do you know the amazing history of Gdansk? For many years it has been one of the proudest city in Poland. City, that stayed independent for many years. City, where the story of Solidarnosc movement started. I believe, that you already are familiar with it from history lessons from school times ( more). However, how much you certainly know about this history? Would you be able to present this story for any foreigner that asks you about it? And what about the local cuisine? Did you know that it has a lot more to offer than solely fish? What about different regions of the country? Perhaps you would rather take flights to Katowice? Have you ever heard that this is the largest metropolitan area in Central and Eastern Europe?

I hope that all of those posted questions would be an inspiration for your summer detination this year. Instead of choosing a foreign country, why not to try to discover your own country. Act as a tourist, avoid being local. Stay curious, be open minded. Ask questions, try to understand local story, try local food. I believe that you will discover that every town has its own amazing atmosphere, which can be even more interesting than trip abroad!
